  • How often should I change or clean my air filter?

At HeatPro Heating & Cooling, LLC, our technicians get a lot of emergency calls caused by dirty air filters. To protect your system’s performance, efficiency, and lifespan, check your filter monthly. If you don’t have pets or kids, you may be able to do this every three months. This is the bare minimum to protect you and your system.

  • What’s the best thermostat setting for energy savings?

According to the Department of Energy, you can save up to 15% on your energy bill by setting your thermostat at 68 degrees in the winter and 75 degrees in the summer.

  • How should I set my programmable thermostat?

You can save energy and money by using a programmable thermostat. Adjust the temperatures to be different while you sleep and are away. This will maximize your HVAC performance. Smart-learning thermostats will learn for you and recommend the best settings.

  • How often should my system be professionally serviced?

To avoid emergency heating and cooling repair services, you should have your HVAC system serviced regularly in the spring and fall. Get this done before summer and winter temperature extremes put your system to the test.

  • Do you have service contracts?

Yes, we offer contracts to our customers. Seniors over the age of 55 can get a senior discount. When you have a service contract, you get priority service and a 10% discount on service calls. More benefits of a service contract include:

    • Cheaper utility bills with improved HVAC system efficiency
    • Comfortable indoor temperatures all year
    • Heating and cooling systems that require fewer costly repairs and last longer
    • Quick responses to emergency HVAC failures (even in extreme weather)
    • Improved indoor air quality with cleaner HVAC ducts, air filters, and coils
  • How much does a new HVAC system cost?

It is difficult to put an exact price on a new HVAC system. The size (square footage), layout (single or multi-level), exposure, leakage, and other issues will have an impact. To get a free, no-obligation estimate, call or text us now.

  • What’s the difference between ductless air conditioning and central air systems?

    • Central air conditioning units are split into an outdoor unit and an indoor unit. These units condition and distribute air via ductwork in your home’s attic or crawlspace.
    • A ductless or mini-split system is installed directly into the wall. There is an indoor portion of the system that connects to the outdoor component via tubing.
    • Each system has advantages and disadvantages. It’s vital to discuss these pros and cons with a trusted heating and cooling professional before deciding which system is best for your home.
  • What can I do to make my air conditioner work its best?

For the best performance, here are some air conditioner tips:

    • Keep the outdoor air conditioner unit clear of debris to support good airflow in the system
    • Keep plants at least 18 inches away from your air conditioner so it can breathe
    • Make sure supply duct and register vents are always open and uncovered to support proper airflow throughout the home
    • Change the HVAC air filter regularly and check the air filter monthly to determine when you need a new one
  • How long does an air conditioner unit last?

Usually, HVAC systems last between 12 and 15 years. Some cooling units fail sooner or last longer. Many factors can impact your system's lifespan. This includes the equipment brand, system usage, and maintenance habits. So, if your air conditioner is 12 to 15 year years old, it might be time to think about a replacement.

  • When should I consider air conditioner replacement over repair?

We use a three-strike rule for keeping cool. Once you have had three or more major repairs done to your air conditioning unit, it’s probably time for a replacement. Many repairs are costly. After many repairs, it becomes cost-prohibitive. Instead of wasting money on countless repairs, a replacement will save you money and time over time.
